WordPress Plugins You Should Definitely Be Using
If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
Since I have only recently set up this new blog I have had to go through the process of installing all my WordPress plugins to get everything fully up and running. Having previously set up WordPress on other sites there are a few plugins that I now consider must-haves and use every time I set up a new site.
All In One SEO Pack - This plugin optimizes your blog for the search engines by using some of the best practices of on-page SEO such as unique title tags and using “noindex” for category and archive pages to prevent duplicate content penalties
Sitemap Generator - This plugin creates sitemap for your blog which gives your visitors another way to navigate around your site when they’re looking for something in particular.
Feedburner Feedsmith - If you’re using Feedburner to manage your blog’s RSS feed then this plugin automatically redirects your blog’s feed to your Feedburner feed. This makes it easy for you to keep track of how many feed subscribers you have.
Google Analyticator - This plugin makes it easy link your blog to your Google Analytics account so that you can keep track of your website visitors.
Google XML Sitemap Generator -This plugin creates an XML sitemap of your blog and automatically update and submit it to the major search engines to help get your blogged indexed.
ShareThis - Adds a link to the end of all your posts making it easy for your visitors to bookmark your posts on various social bookmarking sites.
Popularity Contest - Allows you to keep track of which of your most popular posts based on the views and comments they receive.
Related Posts - Create links at the end of posts to other posts that are related based on their tags.
Sphinn It Button - Adds a Sphinn It! button to your posts to make it easy for your visitors to submit your posts to Sphinn.
PlugIM Button - Similar to the above but for PlugIM.
Twitter Tools - Automatically post to Twitter announcing your new blog posts and/or automatically post to your blog when you update your status at Twitter.
What Would Seth Godin Do? - This plugin displays a customisable message to new visitors to your blog. You can use this to encourage new readers to subscribe to your RSS feed.
Feel free to post your comments about any of the about plugins or if there are any plugins that you find particularly useful that you’d like to share.

Hey, Chris.
As a new webmaster for my own domain, your post on essential Wordpress plugins was excellent. For example, I immediately downloaded three of your suggestions. And, I totally see myself coming back to research a few more Wordpress plugins I would like to see on my own wordpress blog.
Thanks, Chris.
