Traffic is King, but this comes FIRST
Visitors to your site are critical – getting them there automatically is even better. Here’s how…
Before we begin
Keyword research is really the first step in getting traffic to your website. This is because you will building your traffic funnels around specific keywords. This means it’s critical to select your keywords properly.
A couple things to keep in mind when doing keyword research:
- Are the keywords you’re interested in attainable? You’ll have to analyze the competition and see what’s out there for this.
- Are these “buying” keywords? If you don’t do your research you’ll end up with a lot of traffic that doesn’t buy from you. What you want is buyers!
- Will these keywords bring affiliates? Generating your own customers is great – having other people do it for you is even better. So make sure you are also targeting keywords to attract affiliates.
Of course, this all takes time if you plan to do it yourself. And hiring an expert is very expensive. The upside is that these two factors keep most everyone from even doing their keyword research. What I recommend is using website traffic software to save the time of doing it yourself and the money of hiring someone else. Using tools like this speed up the process and improve your results, too!
OK, now we can talk about traffic…
Now that you’ve completed your keyword research, you can begin using these keywords to get traffic to your website.
Here’s a short list of sneaky traffic techniques:
- Something you may not have ever considered is Surveys
- “Help” Websites
- Video
Surveys
The truth is that people really enjoy taking surveys and finding out what other people think. And smart website owners know this, so they will include your survey on their site if you make a good one. It’s a win-win. They get a great perk on their site and you get a link back to yours. Think about that – you get website traffic for free just for making a survey! Using just this one extra idea will put you ahead of your competition . . . who think surveys are for gathering information! Just make the question interesting enough that people will want to share it with their own visitors.
“Help” Websites
These sites, like answers.yahoo.com are filled with people asking and answering questions for each other. However, you’re interest in these sites is not to ask and answer questions. What you want to do is use these sites to generate traffic and leads for your business. Of course, the process of digging through these sites and pulling out the content info of leads for your business is very time consuming. So, if you’re smart, you’ll use website traffic software to do it all for you. Then you just get a daily batch of fresh leads delivered to your inbox.
Video
Video is huge and sites like YouTube and Vimeo are extremely popular. These sites generate massive traffic and people watch over 2 billion videos a day on YouTube alone . If you’re not taking advantage of this rich source of website traffic, then you are really missing out.
Even if you don’t think you can make a good video. One super easy thing to do is take an article or website you’ve written. Then simply record yourself reading the text and you video the screen with a simple screen capture program. You can even get software that will automatically do this for you.
The Bottom Line…
It’s not that hard to get traffic to your websites. Use your noodle and come up with things other people aren’t doing. You can even use software to automate most of what we’ve talked about.
Don’t waste any more time:
- Step 1 is researching your keywords
- Next, set up a survey or two with viral appeal
- Take advantage of the “help” sites
- And don’t forget about video
