How To Avoid Duplicate Content Penalties With Your Articles

If you’ve been using article marketing as part of your online marketing strategy then you might be making the same mistake that many other marketers make and submitting the same article to different article directories. You might even be using some type of automated submission software or service to get your article out to hundreds of directories at once but are finding that even this doesn’t seem to help.
So what is the problem with this approach? Well, when you submit exactly the same article to different directories the search engines will detect that and will only bring back the first copy of the article they find. Not only does this mean that all the time and effort you put in when you submitted the article might have just gone to waste but you will also be missing out on valuable traffic and backlinks.
One fairly obvious approach that you could take to avoid this would be to rewrite your article for each article directory so that each directory gets its own unique version of it. Sure, this will help you avoid the duplicate content penalties but can you imagine just how time consuming it is to rewrite every article you publish for every single directory you want to submit to?
There are also a number of tools available that take your original article and spit own unique versions of it. Unfortunately the results that many of these tools produce are less than desirable and sometimes you just end up with nothing more than complete gibberish. Other tools require you to format your article with substitution tags so you end up writing sentences like ‘Yesterday I went to the {mall|store|shop} and bought a {new|great|cheap} camera’. While this technique does produce readable articles it is very time consuming and you usually only end up changing a few words here and there so the articles you produce are still fairly similar to each other.
Luckily it doesn’t have to be all doom and gloom when it comes to article marketing.
